Mid-year update

Hey there. It’s… been a while. Or, well, I suppose that it hasn’t been that long since my last post here but it certainly has been some time since my last update post. My life’s been pretty hectic in the last couple months but not so busy that the possibility of blogging was zero however for a lot of reasons I held off on publishing anything until last month. I won’t go too far into the nitty-gritty of these reasons but I figured that I owed some kind of explanation for amazing people that still follow this little blog of mine, as well as an update on the blog and myself.

The short of it was that the circumstances of the last couple months made it super hard to find the motivation to publish anything. And I do mean to say “publish” and not “write”. I definitely had more than a couple ideas in my head and on virtual paper over the last few months but the combination of my perfectionism due to my prior minor successes and a general lack of confidence in my writing because of my hiatus cyclically blocked anything from hitting the front page of the site. And with full-time school and full-time work at the forefront of my attention most days of the week, it was easy for me to be okay with putting off my writing for as long as I needed. It’s maybe an excuse that’s acceptable to some but to me, it felt like I was falling back into the person I was early on in the lifetime of this blog – that the growth that I had since then was coming undone, which was definitely not a fun feeling.

Luckily though, I did manage to get something out before school swamped me again and although it certainly wasn’t perfect, it did help to relieve a few my writing anxieties.

And now, with two months of relative freedom ahead of me before my final semester of school, I finally have some time for anime, writing, and this community again. I missed this a lot and I honestly felt like I was missing a part of myself when I wasn’t writing. So for the next little while at least, I’ll try to keep the promise I made in my anniversary post and be here, in this place and community that I’ve come to adore.

That being said, I suppose I won’t just be here. Those that follow me on Twitter would already know but for the last couple months, I’ve been helping out with the English Light Novels blog. It’s a site that I’ve been following since I got into light novels and it’s really nice to have the opportunity to give back to it. Though I haven’t contributed any real writing to it yet (for all of the reasons above), I’ve got a couple ideas brewing so hopefully that’ll change soon.

Thanks to everyone that’s still keeping with little ol’ me and I hope to see you again sometime soon.

And as always, thanks for reading.

  1. Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I always appreciate reading through your blog posts. That being said, I also understand that being less than confident in your own writing is something hard to brush off. Hang in there, Carriage!
